Although WWE and AEW are currently regarded as the two biggest wrestling promotions worldwide, there was a time when the Stamford-based company held a monopoly on the industry. Still, WWE has maintained its position as the top promotion due to its longevity, superior production, and lucrative brand and TV deals. Meanwhile, All Elite Wrestling carved out its own niche by promoting talent-driven storylines and focusing more on a wrestler's in-ring ability. Moreover, one major impact the promotion has had since debuting in 2019 is providing wrestling talent with a genuine alternative. Over the years, there have been many talent transfers between AEW and WWE. While Tony Khan initially depended on World Wrestling Entertainment alumni (Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley, to name a few) to put his company on the map, some established AEW stars have also jumped ship to the Triple H-led promotion in recent years (Jade Cargill and Penta, among others) as a way to wrestle on the biggest stage. Meanwhile, one major debate among fans centers on which wrestler would be better suited to which promotion. This discussion comes from some talent being underutilized in one company and potentially benefiting from a switch, or from them simply not being the right fit for how the promotion operates. With that said, today we are looking at three current WWE stars who would be better off in Tony Khan's promotion. #3. Dragon Lee should move to AEWIt might surprise many that Dragon Lee first appeared on All Elite Wrestling programming in August 2022 in a trios match before signing with WWE in December of that year. Although details about the move are unclear, Tony Khan reportedly felt betrayed by the Mexican Luchador's switch to World Wrestling Entertainment. Still, it would be beneficial for both Khan and Lee if they could move past any past issues and work together. In WWE, Lee is a former NXT North American Champion and currently one-half of the World Tag Team Champions with AJ Styles. However, despite these achievements, the general opinion is that the Stamford-based promotion has underused the Mexican star's talents. If Dragon Lee were to join AEW, he could team up with his brother, Dralistico, and Rush as part of La Facción Ingobernable, potentially gaining more TV time to display his in-ring skills. froz 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 @ZACKYVEN06LINK@awesomePuro Dragon Lee should join AEW, it's for his own good.#2. & 1. The Motor City Machine Guns ( Chris Sabin and Alex Shelly)The Motor City Machine Guns, aka the tag team of Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, first gained prominence in TNA in the late 2000s and early 2010s. The duo also built a reputation through promotions like ROH and TNA. By 2024, the Machine Guns had achieved legendary status as a tag team and were heading to WWE, where fans expected great things. However, their time so far hasn't met expectations, as the promotion has seemingly underutilized them. In about a 15-month tenure in the Stamford promotion, MCMG has only won the WWE tag titles once, a reign that lasted 42 days. Outside of that, the team has been used in directionless feuds with bottom card teams like Fraxiom and DIY. Moreover, the duo has been seen performing at only a few WWE Premium Live Events, despite their obvious in-ring talent and reputation. It seems the Motor City Machine Guns haven't been able to succeed in World Wrestling Entertainment, mainly because WWE's tag team format might not be a good fit for Sabin and Shelly. Switching to AEW could benefit the team, as they would face newer opponents in a promotion that builds long-term storylines around its tag teams. Moreover, the AEW values high-impact in-ring action, which MCMG is known for.
