AEW has expanded its roster size over the past few years. The company's roster currently consists of several veterans as well as some young prospects. Some of the talent are nearing the end of their respective careers. Now, with John Cena retiring this year and AJ Styles retiring next year, a lot of discussion among wrestling circles has been about retirement, particularly who could be the next to hang up their boots. Hence, in this article, we will take a look at three stars who may not get a retirement match in AEW.#3. Bryan DanielsonIn 2023, Bryan Danielson announced to the world that he would be stepping away from the ring in 2024. Many fans thought his final wrestling match would take place at All In 2024 when he faced Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship. In a shocking turn of events, Danielson defeated Swerve for the World Title. This prolonged his career in the industry by a few more months, as The American Dragon stated he would step away after losing the title. After losing the World Title to Jon Moxley at WrestleDream 2025, Danielson hasn't competed in a televised match, leaving fans to wonder if they were ever going to see him back in the ring again. During interviews, Danielson hasn't officially announced his retirement, but hinted at it by stating that his body cannot compete at the same level again.Given that Bryan Danielson has settled into his role as a commentator on Dynamite, it is unlikely that he will return to the ring again and therefore, won't get a retirement match.#2. Adam ColeAdam Cole's AEW run has been plagued by injuries. Early into his run, he suffered a serious concussion that kept him out of the ring for several months. After he finally returned to the ring, he injured his foot within a few months, which sidelined him for a while.Cole looked like he put his injury problems away earlier this year when he won the TNT Championship. However, he was forced to relinquish his title ahead of All In: Texas due to another concussion. Given Cole's history of concussion-related injuries, it's likely that he might opt to step away from the ring for good to protect himself. This would mean that Cole has already wrestled his final match and hence, won't be getting a retirement match in AEW.#1. Mercedes Mone won't get a retirement match in AEWMercedes Mone has achieved a lot of success ever since she signed with AEW last year. She has gone on to win several titles across various promotions around the world. Despite her success in the Jacksonville-based promotion, The CEO won't be happy and will be looking to make her return to WWE.Just before making her AEW debut, the former Sasha Banks said in an interview that her goal was to return to WWE someday. These comments also landed her in a bit of hot water with the fans who felt she disrespected Tony Khan's company. She also said that she wanted to return to WWE for WrestleMania 39 before Tony Khan invited her to All In. Therefore, it is likely that Mercedes Mone will eventually decide to return to WWE, where she will likely finish her career. If this happens, then she won't get a retirement match in All Elite Wrestling.
