Mercedes Mone has been on a dominant run ever since she joined AEW last year. During her entire time in the company, she has only lost one singles match to date, although it was a huge one. Her only singles loss came to the then-AEW Women's World Champion, Timeless Toni Storm, at All In: Texas, where she was unsuccessful in becoming a double champion in AEW.
Now, she has an opportunity to become a double champion in the company once again as she faces Kris Statlander for the Women's World Championship at Full Gear 2025. However, Ultimo Mone should go on to lose the match to Statlander, and here are three reasons why.
#1. She needs to drop the TBS title first
Mercedes Mone currently holds 12 belts simultaneously across AEW and other independent wrestling promotions. Among these 12 belts, she has held the TBS Championship the longest, having won the title from Willow Nightingale on May 26, 2024. She is the longest-reigning TBS Champion in the company's history now, as she's held the title for over 520 days.

She recently broke Jade Cargill's record 508-day reign with the belt. Having achieved everything she could with the championship, it would make sense for the CEO to drop the title before winning the AEW Women's World Championship, as it doesn't serve anyone if she becomes a double champion.
#2. Kris Statlander needs to get a win back
This won't be the first time Kris Statlander and Mercedes Mone will be fighting each other. Their match at Full Gear is a rematch from the World Collide PPV in December last year. The only difference is that back then, only one of them was a champion, and it was Mone putting her title on the line.
The last time these two women faced each other, Mone came out on top as she defeated Statlander to retain the TBS Championship. The reigning AEW Women's World Champion needs to get her win back against Mone to make the feud last longer and present her as a credible champion.
#3. The belt collector storyline needs to end
Mercedes Mone has been loving her time on the independent circuit, collecting belts everywhere she goes. In addition to the TBS Championship, she holds 11 other championships, such as the Undisputed British Women's Championship and the CMLL World Women's Championship.
She was on a quest to break Ultimo Dragon's record of holding 10 belts simultaneously, which she achieved at AEW WrestleDream, when she won the Interim ROH Women's World Television Championship. Having made the record her own, Mone needs to start losing these titles so the storyline can end before she wins the Women's World Title, as it would have more meaning at that time.
