AEW star Paul Wight has been with the company for almost five years. He has been helping backstage and putting his decades of experience to use. Since debuting in WCW in 1995, he has redefined what a giant can do when he becomes innovative. He even made a massive name for himself in WWE and had great feuds with legends like John Cena, Mark Henry, and Randy Orton. He left the global sports entertainment juggernaut in January 2021.
While he isn't in the squared circle that often, he has wrestled for AEW twice, so far. He debuted against QT Marshall at All Out 2021. Then, in November 2023, he was involved in an incredible Street Fight. He wasn't seen in the Jacksonville-based promotion for a long time after that match. However, he appeared at Full Gear last week. He sat on the commentary for QT Marshall vs. Big Boom A.J.
Paul Wight recently talked about his health issues, which have kept him out of action. He disclosed that he had multiple surgeries in the past five years. However, he is still hopeful of making a comeback to perform in the ring. He also hinted that when the time is right, he will retire from the competition.
Let's take a look at some of the AEW names who could face the former WWE Champion in the future.

#3. Claudio Castagnoli
The Swiss Superman has been one of AEW's strongest powerhouses. He has showcased his strength multiple times in the past couple of years. The Death Riders member has been a loyal soldier to Jon Moxley in the past couple of years. However, the One True King's downfall this year, Moxley, might not sit on the throne for too long. Fans are claiming Claudio will soon lead the faction after evicting the former AEW World Champion.
However, Claudio Castagnoli has yet to become a main-event player. In the coming months, AEW could book him to retire Paul Wight. This will help him cement himself as a big deal in singles competition and leadership, not just as a henchman. Also, this will not be their first big encounter, as at WrestleMania 30, the two stars locked horns in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
#2. Konosuke Takeshita
Fans consider the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion as the future of pro wrestling. His exemplary work doesn't go unnoticed by the fans. However, he is yet to receive the recognition he deserves. While he holds NJPW's world title, he is still lurking in the mid-card feuds.
Konosuke Takeshita getting a chance to face Paul Wight down the line might elevate him to another level. The duo had a brief encounter two years ago during Wight's latest bout.
#1. Bobby Lashley vs. Paul Wight
Another entry of Andrade the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in the list; Bobby Lashley won the high-stakes match in 2023. He and Shelton Benjamin have been involved in great tag team feuds over the past year. However, fans are waiting for Lashley to enter the world title picture.
To successfully transition from tag team to singles competitor, he could need a huge push. Retiring a giant like Paul Wight could be a good passing-the-torch moment for him, and Bobby Lashley then could go on to win a major singles title.
It remains to be seen when Paul Wight will return to the ring and decide to hang up his boots.
