AEW Full Gear took place this weekend at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Tony Khan booked a stacked card of matches for the show. For the most part, Full Gear lived up to the hype. There were more than enough spectacular matches, and the crowd was amazing. However, this PPV wouldn't be complete without pointing out some mistakes that should've been avoided. Hence, here are three mistakes Tony Khan made at AEW Full Gear 2025.#3. The Elite reunion was pointlessEver since The Young Bucks turned heel over a year ago, they separated themselves from Kenny Omega and Hangman Page. As a result, they removed them from The Elite and added Kazuchika Okada and Jack Perry to the group. However, this plan backfired as Okada left them for The Don Callis Family while Perry turned on them a few weeks ago after returning from hiatus.Additionally, the Bucks have been going through some turbulence after they lost their EVP status. This made for some entertaining moments on TV. As a result, in recent weeks, Don Callis offered to help Matt and Nick Jackson. However, they felt a bit reluctant. At Full Gear 2025, the Bucks teamed with Josh Alexander to face Kenny Omega and Jurassic Express. The Bucks were able to win the match and a million dollars. After the match, the Don Callis Family attacked Kenny Omega, which prompted Matt and Nick Jackson to step in and help their old friend. They shook hands with Jurassic Express and then hugged Omega, indicating that The Elite were back together. While this was a feel-good moment, it was a big booking mistake on the part of Tony Khan as the broke Bucks storyline was one of the best things going in the company, but that has effectively ended now that The Elite are together.#2. Brodido losing to FTR at AEW Full Gear 2025Brodido emerged as a surprise tag team since earlier this year. The duo has been successful in such a short stint together. They even captured the AEW World Tag Team Titles. Brody King and Bandido have quickly grown to become a fan favorite tag team in AEW. Therefore, losing the Tag Titles to an already established team like FTR was a big mistake. FTR didn't need the titles at this point since they are one of the best tag teams in the industry. However, this was the chance to elevate Brodido and open up the tag team division, which has been floundering in recent months. However, that is unlikely to happen now that FTR are champions.#3. Swerve Strickland should've returned as a heelAfter Samoa Joe defeated Hangman Page for the AEW World Title, the lights in the arena went off, and Swerve Strickland's music hit. He then came down to the ring. When it looked like he was about to attack Hangman Page, he instead assaulted members of The Opps Dojo, indicating that he was still a babyface. This was a huge mistake on the part of Tony Khan because Swerve did some of his best work as a heel. He is a natural-born heel, and AEW should've capitalized on this by having him return as a bad guy. However, we might get to see Swerve and Hangman team up against The Opps, which is a little hard to believe given their dark history together.
